Student training at the Center 2014 – 2015
2014 – 2015 is the 12th year of LDWDC’s training program. . The women come to the centre in June and stay until February, completing a 9 month program. Students ages range from 15 to 35 years of age. We have the facilities for 25 to 35 people. Currently we have 20 students coming from 4 provinces; Bokeo, Houaphan, Xayaboury and Bolikhamxay. We also have 3 children of disabled women staying here with their mothers. Here is the story of one of our current students:
Ms Korry Yong Student Sewing training
Ms Korry Yong was 25 years old, she born in Hoayma Village, Xamnea District, Houaphan province. Her parents were quite old when they had her. Korry was born with disabilities in both legs, When she study in high school in 6th class, 17 years old, Korry very sad about her situation because no operation could change her. She tried to commit suicide many times by cutting herself. Her family were understanding and knew she could not go out by herself so they supported her by having a small shop she could run at home and not think about being disabled. This year we brought her to the centre for training in sewing and computers, She is now happy, looking healthy, and feeling strong. She is interested in learning and meeting other women with disabilities from around Laos.
Ms Huk Chanhsamai Student Sewing and paper making
Ms Huk Chanhsamai was 27 years old, She born into family farmer in Hoaykham Village, Phaoudom District, Bokeo Province, She could not go to school because her family very poor and not has money to study. She was born with disabilities in her left hand. She contracted did polio when she was 2 years old, She is Khmu, from a poor family. There are only 2 daughters so she count not go to school and stay at home raising pigs and chicken, and collected bamboo shoots to sale at the market, Already she is happy training in sewing and paper making at the Center, and is learning many life skills
Ms Dao Vongsi Student Sewing and Computer 2014 – 2015.
Ms Dao Vongsi is 21 years old, She was born in Kongpor Village, Xayaboury District Xayaboury Province. Her family sells noodle in the village market, When she was five years old, Ms Dao had an infection in one leg, after treatment at the hospital she could not bend her leg. She could not go to school by herself, and only completed 5th class. Since she was 12 years old she has been selling noodles at the market to help her family. Already she is happy training in sewing Ms Dao Vongsi is 21 years old, She was born in Kongpor Village, Xayaboury District Xayaboury Province.
