Activities

On any give day the Lao Disabled Womens Development Centre is a hive of excitement, teeming with people doing different activities.

Women with disabilities are some of the most disadvantaged, vulnerable and impoverished people in Laos P.D.R. All of our activities aim to empower the women with knowledge and information, arm women with confidence and support women to become leaders in civil society.

At the Centre one of our main activities is our training and hand made product creation. Visit our Centre and you can see our training and handicrafts in action whether it be sewing, weaving, paper making or recycled paper products. Other training components include  social development and awareness, women’s civil rights, healthcare and hygiene, small business, IT and Lao / English Language skills.

The LDWDC also works with the Government of Lao P.D.R and many Non-Government Organisations to improve the lives of women with disabilities. You can check out our projects page to learn more about what we do, and follow our Facebook page for recent announcements.

Finally, the LDWDC is an advocate for the rights of women with disabilities. We give women with disabilities a voice by attending meetings, conferences and seminars on the behalf of women with disabilities to help bring these important issues to the attention of change makers.

If you are interested in learning more please contact us or come and visit us at the Centre; if you would like to get involved then please make contact, as we welcome short and long term volunteers and collaboration with different businesses or organisations.

  1. Hello, I am Sandra Mederl from Germany and I am 26 years old. I am interested in helping at your Centre for a voluntary work for a couple of days, because I love the idea of helping these women and giving something back to Laos. I would be able to start at the 13th of October? Is this possible to do? 🙂
I am really looking forward in hearing from you!

    Kind regards,
    Sandra Mederl

  2. Hi,
I have recently moved to Vientiane from London and will be here for 3-4 months. I would love to learn more about volunteering opportunities with your organisation as I am keen to give back to the community while I am here. I don’t unfortunately speak any Lao but am hoping I will still be able to contribute.
I look forward to hearing back from you,
    Skyla
